Museums Federation Cymru Needs You!

This year marks our first Annual General Meeting as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). We are pleased to be operating under our new Charity Registration Number (1217862) and are entering an exciting new phase for the Federation. We are currently seeking nominations for four Committee Trustee positions:

  • Chair
  • Web Officer
  • Two Ordinary Member positions

If you would like to stand for election, please arrange for your nomination to be proposed and seconded by two Federation members and complete the Nomination Form below.

THE CHAIR  

Role Description 

The role of Chair is to support the board of trustees and work with the President to provide strategic leadership in fulfilling the charity objectives.  

The President or other trustee will adopt the duties in absence of the Chair. 

Role Responsibilities 

Key responsibilities for this trustee role are to: 

  • Chair trustee meetings, ensuring that a balance is struck between time-keeping and space for discussions. 
  • Ensure the implementation of decisions is clearly assigned and monitored 
  • With the Treasurer, ensure that the Charity finances are appropriately managed
  • Plan and prepare trustee meetings and the AGM with the Secretary. 
  • With the Secretary ensure a well-planned process for the recruitment, selection, appointment, induction, training and development of Trustees.  
  • The Chair also has all the duties and responsibilities of other Board members, outlined in the Job role. 

Person specification 

The Chair should have/be: 

  • Commitment to the purpose and values of the Federation of Museum and Art Galleries Wales 

WEB SUPPORT OFFICER

Role Description 

The role as Web support officer is to ensure that Museum Federation’s webpage runs smoothly and meets the needs of the Federation and its members.  

Role Responsibilities 

Key responsibilities for this trustee role are: 

  • Coordinate the Comms and Marketing Subgroup
  • That the website meets the needs of the organisation in disseminating information to members 
  • The website is easy to manage 
  • That new website content (when necessary) is shared across all appropriate communication channels
  • That other trustees are trained to operate and upload associated documentation
  • Liaise with contracted hosting and development companies to ensure the website remains operational and provides value for money for the federation.  
  • The Web officer also has all the duties and responsibilities of other Board members, outlined in the role description 

Person specification 

The Web Support Officer should have/be: 

  • Awareness of IT systems and programmes and social media (Microsoft/ OneDrive, WordPress, PostPlanner)
  • Methodical 
  • Able to speak and write Welsh if possible
