Small Grants scheme including Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion Projects

We are launching the autumn round of the small grants scheme, but with additional funding from the Welsh Government through the Culture Division, and with support from the Federation of Museums and Art Galleries of Wales. The additional funding is specifically targeted at Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion projects. Services can apply for more than one project. The small grant funding is targeted at the usual, range of project types, but projects may overlap both aspects of the scheme
Eligible activities will relate to areas below and in addition we will accept more than one application per service:
- Undertaking activities and projects which specifically align to equalities, diversity and inclusion work with priority given to activities working with and for LGBTO+ and disability communities
- improving museum governance, including business planning and workforce development, e.g. Constitutional reviews (including costs for professional services)
- raising standards of collections care and management
- meeting Welsh Government priorities
Grants will be awarded as follows:
Maximum grant is £10,000
Federation grants can be partnered with internal funds and other partnership sources.
There is no longer a minimum partnership contribution of 10%

Acquisition Grant Fund
The Federation is delighted to announce a new grant for 2025/2026.
This grant is to support local and independent Accredited Museums (including Working Towards) in Wales to develop their core collections through the purchase of items including, but not limited to, items becoming available under the Portable Antiquities scheme.
This funding has been provided by the Welsh Government and administered by the Welsh Museum Federation to support organisations to meet the Priorities for Culture,
The maximum grant available is £10,000.00. There is no minimum. No match funding is required. This is a rolling grant programme with funding available on a first come first serve basis

Professional Development and Conferences Schemes.
Welsh Government funding enables the Federation to provide two small grant rounds per year. The maximum grant amount is £10,000 (spring) and £3,000 (autumn).
Three independent Federation committee members assess the applications (with the priority given to supporting smaller projects) against a range of criteria from Welsh Government priorities, Accreditation standards and the museum’s Forward Plan. We are also launching our Professional Development and Conference grant scheme.
To apply for a grant, applicants must be a member of the Federation and be an accredited (or working towards accreditation) museum.
