This year we are having a welcomed in person return of our popular Christmas conference, hosted by the wonderful Swansea Museum and offering a chance to meet once again with friends and colleagues from across the museum collections conservation sector.
This year’s conference theme is simply one of sharing your Conservation related story to celebrate the diversity and creativity of our work. Conservators are resilient and innovative, and we want to hear about things you have learnt, experiences gained, and any fabulous projects completed! We are now seeking proposals for 10 to 20-minute presentations for the conference and encourage students and emerging professionals especially to take part. Deadline for submission of abstracts (max. 200 words) to Megan de Silva – MeganDeSilva@monmouthshire.gov.uk – by 24th November 2023.
The event will be in-person event only as due to the complexities of doing hybrid meetings we will not be trying to offer a live virtual option. However, we will look to record the conference to make available at a later date with the permissions of the presenters.
Registration is £25 but free for presenters, volunteers, students, and those on benefits.
This cross disciplinary conference will be attended by conservators, curators, collection managers and others engaged in the care of collections. The conference ethos is to be an inclusive network and proposals are welcomed from those inside and outside of Wales, although when selecting papers we will prioritise presentations that demonstrate relevance to the Welsh context.
Matters Wales is a collaboration between Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales, the Federation of Museums and Art Galleries in Wales, and Cardiff University.
Save the date and call for Presentations – Join us for our 2023 Conservation Matters Wales Christmas Conference!
