The Museum Federation of Wales is steered by a voluntary Executive Committee (of between 5 and 11 Trustees), appointed at the AGM by the membership. There are three named officers (President, Secretary and Treasurer) with the remainder Ordinary Members undertaking specific roles during their tenure. Committee roles include Membership Secretary; Web Officer; Training Co-ordinator and Festival Co-ordinator.

The trustees have ultimate responsibility for the charity and are collectively responsible for its governance. The role of trustees is to ensure that The Federation of Museum and Art Galleries Wales has a clear vision and strategic direction, is sustainable and complies with the law.

Our Trustees bring a variety of skills and knowledge from the museums and heritage sector, with experience working in national, local authority or independent museums, Skills are wide ranging: including leadership, governance, interpretation, conservation, visitor services, learning, training, digital, fundraising and collections. The trustees are dedicated and passionate and are willing to commit time to meet the Charity’s objectives.
