Are you looking for exciting activities in half term? Why not visit us at Newport Museum and Art Gallery for a unique ‘Drawing with Light’ experience.  Use the virtual reality application Tilt Brush or join local artist Andy O’Rourke to experiment with light painting techniques and unleash your creativity in 3D.

When: Tuesday, 28 October

Tilt Brush – 10am to 4pm

Light Paintings with Andy O’Rourke – 11am to 3pm

Where: Art Gallery on the 3rd floor

Just pop in, no booking is required.

Tilt Brush is a 3-dimensional virtual reality painting application, and you will wear a VR headset. Two facilitated virtual reality booths will be available from 10am to 4pm on the day. Tilt Brush is recommended for ages 10+ and an experienced technician will guide you along the way. This activity is facilitated by Bryght Ltd. A 10-15 minute time limit will be introduced if the demand is high.

Or join Andy O’Rourke to make a light painting between 11am and 3pm. What is light painting? It’s a playful, immersive, and highly engaging photographic technique that merges art, technology, and pure fun. Draw in the air using unique light tools, and skilled photographers capture those dazzling light trails in real-time, creating stunning, personalised digital artworks. Please be aware that there will be flashing lights and strobes which may not be suitable for everyone.

The day is funded by UK Government through a Shared Prosperity Fund grant.
