Please note there have been some changes to the Federation of Museums & Art Galleries in Wales’s committee and roles recently.
Victoria Rogers has been appointed as Head of Museums & Collections with Welsh Government and has therefore stepped down from her role as President. Congratulations Victoria and all the best with your new appointment.
I am sure you will agree that in her role as President for the last 6 years and during difficult times, she has strongly advocated and supported the Museum sector in Wales.
During a meeting of the Federation Committee on March 19 th it was agreed that Nêst Thomas will take over as President with Morrigan Mason as Vice-President in “caretaker “ roles until the Annual General Meeting in October, when the posts will be formally advertised and elected by the membership. Morrigan and myself are looking forward to supporting the sector in our new roles.
Also Sara Maggs has also stepped down as Treasurer as she has been appointed to a post with Welsh Government as Collections Adviser. We wish her all the best and are very grateful for her invaluable contribution as Treasurer especially during these difficult times.
Nigel Blackamore was elected as the new Treasurer at the Extraordinary Meeting held on January 22, 2021. Richard Davies has also stepped down as a committee member due to a new position at the REME Museum.
Richard has been an invaluable member of the committee and we thank him for his contribution and wish him all the best in his new position. We are looking for people who would be interested in being co-opted onto committee or who can be elected onto committee at AGM.
For anyone interested in becoming more involved with work of Federation please contact the Secretary or any other members of the committee.
Nêst Thomas Llywydd/President
